A new truck from Volvo is designed to achieve a net zero emissions goal by 2040
A new truck from Volvo Trucks with improved environmental performance was released on January 31st. The truck will help the company reach its 2040 emission reduction target, as well as improving safety, productivity, and uptime for its customers.
The North American market will see the introduction of a highly energy-efficient platform that will reduce fuel consumption by up to 10% and significantly improve safety. The upcoming platform will serve as the basis for future models in the near future. This vehicle will utilize extensive electrical components, renewable fuels, and fuel-efficient combustion engines, with the first model being the Volvo VNL, which will replace the best-selling long-distance truck in North America. Sales are expected to begin at the end of the first quarter of 2024.
In Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa, Volvo is introducing the new Volvo FH Aero, an energy efficient vehicle. With its new aerodynamic design, it will reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5%. An electric, biogas, and diesel propulsion system is available.
These improvements in environmental performance are in addition to fuel efficiency reduction technologies introduced in recent years. Over the course of 2024 and 2025, the new Volvo FH Aero will be introduced in each market, with sales beginning in the first quarter of 2024.
